Photo Printers
If you have a digital camera and wish to print your photos at home then you will need a photo quality printer, printers that are not photo quality are not able to produce the necessary detail and will therefore produce poor quality photo prints.
When buying a photo quality printer the most important feature to look for is the resolution of the printer, this is usually measured in DPI which stands for Dots Per Inch. The higher the DPI of the photo quality printer the more detail it will have in producing your digital photographs so the better they will look, if you have a digital camera with a high megapixel rating (this is the resolution of the camera) then you will need a printer with a high resolution to be able to print in the detail that your digital camera records the photos. Most photo quality printers are inkjet printers as they are very accurate, cheap and inkjet printers have been the most popular for years as laser printers are much more expensive, there are many brands that offer photo quality inkjet printers such as Lexmark, HP, Canon, Epson and others.
There are many brands that offer photo quality printers and they include Lexmark, Epson, Canon, HP and many others, they offer a huge selection with some being cheap and some being very advanced. Printers have become allot cheaper though so there are cheap printers that can produce photo quality results, beware though as some will offer cheap photo quality printers and then charge a fortune for the ink cartridges so it is always a good idea to check how much the ink cartridges are for the photo quality printer you are planning to buy.
There are also a few other features that are worth looking for when buying an inkjet photo quality printer, one is the speed at which it prints and this is usually measured in PPM which stands for Pages Per Minute. The better quality printers generally print faster and this is worth looking out for if you are doing allot of prints, colour printing also usually takes longer so it is even more important when printing digital photos.
Pictbridge is also another cool feature that is worth looking out for, it allows you to connect your digital camera to the printer without the need of a computer so is allot quicker and easier to use, we have a separate page on
